Steven Soderbergh Shoots Netflix Series with iPhone18.01.2019
Steven Soderbergh, the master of genre filmmaking, is widely known for his early adoption of novel and cutting-edge technologies to produce his movies. The latest effort of the director behind Academy Award-winning Traffic (2000) and Erin Brockovich (2000) is a sports drama developed for Netflix.
Like Soderbergh’s 2018 film Unsane, High Flying Bird has also been shot entirely on an iPhone 7 Plus. The film tells a story of a sports agent who gets caught up in a conflict between league officials and star NBA players.
The script was penned by Tarell Alvin McCraney, known primarily for his work on Moonlight (2016). Alongside Zazie Beets, Melving Gregg, and Zachary Quinto, the film will also star top NBA athletes, including Reggie Jackson, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Donovan Mitchell.
High Flying Bird is coming to Netflix on February 8.
